As I've mentioned before, Jessica is IN LOVE with her friend Peterson. Well, Peterson's grandma has been in town and she is an awesome professional photographer. She got this adorable picture as we were all leaving story time this last week. I have to admit that we kind of suggested that they hold hands, but the end result is priceless!

Saying Goodbye to San Diego, Part I
We are heading out of San Diego the beginning of May to once again spend the summer in Idaho. In anticipation of this, we came up with a list of things we needed to do in San Diego in case we don't come back next year (we're hoping to be able to spend year 3 of school as a visiting student at another law school). Of course one of the things we needed to do was go to the beach. So off we went last Friday to Mission Beach. It was kind of a cool day, but still nice. We went for a run along the strand and finished up by playing in the sand. Jessica kept running into the frigid water. My toes were so numb! I'm so glad she loves the water so much though. We had to drag her away kicking and screaming. Michael was probably internally kicking and screaming too as this was most likely the last time he'll be at the beach before we leave. Stay tuned for all of the other exciting San Diego events.

Easter Fun
This is the first year that Jessica has really been able to enjoy all of the fun things that go on at Easter time. She didn't get an Easter basket today (I bought our Easter candy too early, so we've had our "baskets" for the past couple weeks). On Friday our apartment complex held an egg hunt. They were everywhere! Jessica really loaded up. She was so funny though - she'd find a few and then stop to open them up and see what was inside. So funny.
On Saturday our Primary had an Easter party. They invited nursery kids too. They had lots of fun crafts and an egg hunt there also. And once again she insisted on checking out her basket every egg or so.
Jessica's good buddy Peterson had been out of town all week. She sure missed him at story time and play group. She was SO happy to see him at this party. We literally couldn't keep her away from him.
This morning I told Jessica that she would get to go to church today and see Peterson. "and Tanna?" she asked. (Her other good friend Tanner). "Yep, and Tanner," I said. "A hug?" she asked me. "Umm, yeah, you can give them a hug." "A kiss?" she asked. Oh dear...
Needless to say, it's been a fun Easter break for us. Now I just need to figure out how to give "the talk" to a 1 year old. :)

Congratulations USD
I never thought I'd say this, but my USD Torreros did what my BYU Cougars could not do. That's right, our boys left with a 70-69 victory over No. 4 seed Connecticut in the first round of the NCAA tournament's West Regional. Next up, West Kentucky on Sunday (a Catholic school playing on Easter?). Go Torreros!

Do as I'm doing
Jessica is so funny. I came into the living room to find her with her doll. She had stripped it's clothes off and was helping it to go potty. Cute girl. She thought it was the greatest thing.
It's good to see that this whole potty training thing is becoming more natural to her. She is continuing to improve and I'm just so proud of her!
Ok, so I have a question. Ever since she was little, everyone has said that Jessica looks just like me. But I'm starting to think her "Michael looks" are starting to come out now. What do you think? Who does she look most like?

Here was Michael at Jessica's age. (Thanks for the recommendation Jon).

New Toys for Jessica
Jessica has been enjoying lots of new things to play with. We showed her how to use our new iPod and now she likes to sit and watch Sesame Street. Too funny.
Also, the other day she was talking to me about a "baby." I think she was talking about Lily Swenson, but I can never be sure. I decided it was time for her to have a baby doll. I was going to wait and give it to her as an Easter present, but I just couldn't. She has been so cute with it! She even wanted to give the baby ice cream.

Nightmares
I need some advice. I'm pretty sure Jessica has been having nightmares for the past few nights. She'll whimper and whine and sometimes even scream. She ends up waking up earlier than normal. Last night she was up at 3:00am and refused to lay back down. She just wanted to be held and was very jittery. Eventually we got her to sleep in our bed. But a few hours later she started whining and rolling around and breathing all tense. So how do you explain the difference between a dream and reality to a 1 year old? We do our best, but I'm sure she doesn't really get it. The worst is when she's obviously had a nightmare and won't let one of us get anywhere near her. It's like she had a dream that we did something mean and she doesn't understand it's not real. So sad. Any advice would be great.

Jessica movies
A while ago Jessica learned how to climb out of her crib. So in order to prevent her from falling to her death :) we've had her in her pack n play since. But the inevitable has happened:
And here is Jessica's latest favorite song:
