Our little Pebbles

The whole "trick or treating" thing didn't work out after all, so I'll just post the pictures we have. Jessica was Pebbles Flinstone this year. I made the skirt and she already had the top and the sandals. The bone (I hate to admit how white-trash this is), is actually real. I scrubbed it and bleached it and then covered it in white nail polish. I'm sure next year will be super fun since she'll have a little bit better of an idea what is going on.

Happy Halloween!

So our ward had their Halloween Party last night. Jessica wasn't being very good about the whole picture thing. The ones we have just don't do her or her costume justice. But tonight she's going out trick-or-treating with some friends (yeah, Michael's excited about all the candy he's going to get). :)

I took this picture this morning. Too cute! I'll post some of her in her "real" costume tomorrow.

San Diego Fires

I just thought I'd let everyone not around here know that we are doing just fine. San Diego County has a lot of areas burning right now, but we're more in the city, so no problems for us other than a lot of smoky air. Michael is off right now helping out at the Bishop's Storehouse. It's incredible to see how people come together in the face of tragedy. Below is a map of the area. The pink dot is about where we live, just to give you an idea of the big picture.

This next picture is a NASA satalite picture of all the smoke and dust. Pretty wild.

But like I said, we're fine. Jessica keeps handing me her shoes, wanting to go outside. Poor thing. I wish I could explain why we have to stay inside all day. But thanks for all the phone calls asking about us. Please keep those affected by this in your prayers.

Party Time!

These were just too cute not to share. They're from a party for a friend of ours.

Jessica and Laura and their friends.

She wore the birthday hat a lot longer than I expected. She was just glad it had "Elmo" on it.

She loves her friend Tanner.

Jessica likes to gives kisses. Peterson is like, "Get away!"

Playing Pretend

I know this is going to sound cliche, but I can't believe how old Jessica is getting. She really is a toddler and not a baby anymore. She has even started to play pretend. She'll take an empty bowl and spoon, or a cup and pretend to eat and drink. She'll share with whoever or whatever is around. She'll even make the eating sound for you. So cute!

As for Michael and I, there is really nothing new to report. Michael lives for the weekend football games and I'm just enjoying the day to day. Here are some cute pictures of Jessica's pretend games.

Are you ready for some football?!, Part I

We spent the weekend in Las Vegas with family. Saturday night we went to the UNLV/BYU football game. 24-14 Go Cougs! :) Jessica was the life of the party. Complete strangers were sharing their ice cream and cotton candy and begging to hold her. She loved the loud music and all of the excitement. The videos are of her rocking out to the music.

In other news, I finished sewing Jessica's Halloween costume! Sorry, no pictures yet. We can't spoil the surprise. But she will be super cute!

A Weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's

We all spent the weekend in Redondo Beach babysitting our niece and nephew and then Jessica played with her grandparents.

Kid City!

So I may not be the busiest person in the world, but I sure don't have time to do three posts in like two days! :) Our house could use a little cleaning, but this is more fun. Besides, Michael is off at school until late and he wanted to see pictures of this cool event.

I think that San Diego is probably the best possible place to be a stay at home mom. Because you never actually have to stay home - there's always something to go and do. At Balboa park there are a ton of cool museums. Every Tuesday a couple of them are free. Today was a science museum. They had one part of it called "Kid City." It was just for kids 6 and under. Jessica and I went with 3 other moms and kids. She had a ball! Here are some pictures of some of the cool things they had to do there.

While we were waiting for the other moms and kids, Jessica chased pigeons around outside.

Jessica loved playing music.

They had blocks and magnets to play with.

Hello? Hello? Jessica talked in the phone booth.

There were several mirrors with cool effects.

This steering wheel ran a conveyor belt.

Jessica and one of her buddies climbing on a big toy.

Hi there!

They even had simple computers for the kids to play on.

Jessica loved climbing on these big foam blocks.

It was a fun morning. This is just a taste of the things they had to do there. I think next month I'll be going back! OK, time for me to go and get something done before Jessica wakes up. :)

Progress, progress

Jessica is learning new words and skills everyday. Here's her latest.
